LtGen (Ret) John Castellaw,
Advisory Board

In addition to consulting for The Corvus Group, LtGen (Ret) John Castellaw is the managing member of CGL Systems LLC a veteran owned, small business headquartered in Tennessee. CGL Systems’ primary focus is on geospatial services for the government and private sector.

Castellaw served in the Marines for 36 years leading Marines from a platoon to an aircraft wing while flying more than two dozen different aircraft including the CH-46E Sea Knight, the TAV-8B Harrier and the MV-22B Osprey.

He also served with the UN during the Siege of Sarajevo, commanded a U.S. joint force in an Australian-led multi-national security and stability operation in East Timor, and was the chief of staff for the U.S. Central Command at the height of the war in Iraq.

Other service included assignments ashore and aboard ship in Africa, Europe, the Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. 


His last tours on active duty were in the Pentagon where he oversaw Marine Aviation and, later, the Marine Corps budget creation and execution. 

In 2008 he retired and returned to Crockett County, Tennessee to manage the family farm. In addition to CGL Systems, he is the president of the Crockett Policy Institute, a non-profit, non-partisan think tank, serves on the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition’s National Security Advisory Council, and is a teaching fellow in the College of Business and Global Affairs at the University of Tennessee, Martin. 

Castellaw serves on several boards including the Bank of Crockett and the American Security Project, works with various economic development organizations, and advises corporations on management and strategic planning. He recently completed his final term as the National Commander of the Marine Corps Aviation Association.
