You've been selected to interview at Corvus Consulting, LLC! Interviews can be intimidating
and having a good system in place to prep for job interviews is essential. From knowing what to
wear to how to handle sensitive subjects, job interviews are full of formalities, emotions, and
questions.
To help you make the most of your time in front of Corvus hiring managers, the following tips
will help you prepare for your job interview.
The Phone Screen
The phone screen is a brief (usually 30-minute) informal interview used to develop a rapport
with your talent acquisition business partner. It is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your
communication skills and personality, and for us to learn more about you as a candidate.
The Interview
Research Corvus!
We want to know why you want to work for Corvus and why you are interested in the job. Be
prepared to let us know what interests you about us, what rewards we offer that you find
valuable, and what abilities the job requires that you possess.
Clarify the reasons you want the job!
Prepare to go to our interview with three to five key selling points in mind, such as what makes
you the best candidate for the position. In relation to the job you are being interviewed for,
consider rare skills or experiences that could be applicable. Think about how these skills or
experiences apply to the position, how you would use these in the job, and how you would use
them to help the company.
Anticipate any concerns and reservations we may have!
There are always more candidates for positions than there are openings. So we look for ways to
identify the top candidate. If there is a reason you think we might not want to hire you (“I don't
have this,” “I'm not that,” etc.), then prepare your defense: “I know you may be thinking that I
might not be the best fit for this position because [reservation]. But you should know that [reason
why we shouldn't be overly concerned]."
Prepare Questions and Answers!
Have at least three questions prepared to ask the interviewers about the company and scope of
work, and come up with memorable answers to common interview questions, tough interview
questions, explanations about employment gaps and transferable skills, and stories and numbers
that back up your qualifications.
Practice, practice, practice!
It's one thing to come prepared with a mental answer to common questions. It's another challenge
entirely to say it out loud in a confident and convincing way.
What to Wear
For an interview, you want to dress in neat business attire. It’s not a bad idea to even dress more
professionally than you would on the job. Slacks and a nice shirt can be appropriate for men or
women, and women can also consider a skirt or dress.
Follow-up
Say Thank You!
Thank you notes don’t have to be long or elaborate. Be sincere. Show enthusiasm and that you
are the perfect fit.
Remembering everything you want to say during an interview can be difficult. Include a new
question or point you missed.
